When Dave Strider moves from Texas to cold, rainy Washington, he isn't that bothered. He had some people he wanted to leave behind at his old middle school anyway. And it's a pleasant surprise when he discovers that the friends he's made over Pesterchum turn out to go to the same new high school as him. There's even a stranger in a loose sweater and skater skirt shouting about social justice who turns his head. But Dave's been hiding something from his friends: he has ulcerative colitis, which means "painful inflamed large intestine" and is about as fun as it sounds. And it is a lot harder to be cool when your own body won't work right.
I'm not going to be super graphic in my descriptions of Dave's illness, but a warning before you open this: colitis involves being physically sick, and not of the "throwing up" brand. So again, I won't be getting too graphic, but it's going to be present and some element of detail is unavoidable.

Like… for example, this creepy weird horned guy (seriously horns, wtf, why would you cosplay at night, that makes no sense?) who is holding some sort of weird cupcake-like device in the middle of your roof and looking at you like you have grown another head.
Until you see a black shadow with… wait, is that a fucking chainsaw?
While you were wondering that, you, Dave Strider, just realized that you may have gone to the wrong place at a very wrong time, as you fall down and everything fades to black. -

The game’s over. Jade, John, Rose, and all of our counterparts are safe. At least, I’m pretty sure that they are. Everything was supposed to go back to normal.
So why do I still feel like I’m in a war zone?
The main character is Dave and after waking up in the new universe, he finds that he’s alone with no way to contact his friends. After being alone for two weeks, he decides that his best option is to make the trip to New York to find Rose and hopefully figure something out. Hell ensues.

The group of young trolls track it to the planet Earth just outside of the perimeters. On that planet the sun is very unusual, even for Alternia's standards. Especially the inhabitants on the planet; the humans, not to mention one wearing sunglasses. Karkat was expecting something weird to happen, but it wasn't about just the sun anymore. Well, maybe the sun. Or more, about the people getting burned by it.
