|| “Every time you write I get this weird feeling there’s something you aren’t asking. It’s like you are walking on eggshells around me. And I know you don’t walk on eggshells around Peeta or Annie, so hey. Spit it out, kid. What’s up?” Katniss looked down into her drink. Peeta and Annie were in the kitchen, a room away, cleaning up after dinner. They cooked together, talked in their own way. Healed. Finnick knew it was easy for them to have each other, plus the baby liked Peeta. He was strangely good with kids, even though he said he didn’t have younger siblings.
“I don’t want to pry,” Katniss started and Finnick laughed. Her eyes looked apologetic in a way they never did. This was a side of Katniss that rarely showed. A part that was timid.
“Never prying with me, I’m an open book.” Finnick grinned in the playful way he fell back on. Katniss gulped. || -

However, you’ve been waiting for this moment. You refuse to submit. You stand up straight and take a deep breath before he even finishes the words. You step as far forward as you can towards the rope to separate yourself from those around you.
