Summary

“Just like the dragon lords. Maybe – maybe they also returned?”info: Dragon lords are like kings and royals. Dragon knights are chosen by dragons. SO there are dragons and people who can control them - but Merlin´s word is still more powerful then them.
Alternatively: What would have happened, if Arthur didn´t listen to Merlin with the Dissir and just made magic legal.

"And I didn't want to put you in that position.”For better or for worse, Arthur knows Merlin's secret. The problem? Merlin doesn't know Arthur knows. This leaves Arthur with a predicament... and an opportunity. A test. Three trials and three opportunities for Merlin to prove he doesn't deserve death. Arthur hopes he will pass them. Maybe then the image of Merlin's golden eyes will stop haunting him.
Merlin opened his mouth. A noise unlike any sound Arthur had ever heard escaped from it. Loud and rumbling and guttural, inhuman, and in no way, shape, or form could actually be coming from his manservant.
But it was. And Merlin was speaking.
"O drakon, e male so ftengometta tesd'hup'anankes! Erkheo!"
For a minute, there was complete silence—a silence in which Arthur just stared from behind a tree in an incomprehensive daze.
But then there was a sound. Both loud and forceful and... familiar.
The sound of flapping wings.
AKA an in-depth character study of Arthur. I do not endorse Arthur's actions, but this is what I think he'd do in canon. This was my season 3 prediction!

Summary
Merlin tries to keep out of things, when he can.
As an ancient, immortal warlock, it's hardly his place to decide how the world should be. That was always Arthur's job; Merlin's is to wait, and watch, and remember.
Unfortunately, Voldemort's attempt at immortality have thrown off the Balance, and so Emrys is called back to Albion. Once he's there... well, he's always had a problem with sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. And a soft spot for those tossed around at Destiny's whim. And far more magic and time than he has ever known what to do with.
One thing leads to another, and Merlin finds himself embroiled in yet another war.
Oh well. At least immortality isn't boring.

Summary
Muscles jump in Balinor’s clenched jaw.
“I knew you wanted him,” he says. “You could never be satisfied with just your own son.”
“I need a loyal dragonlord,” Uther explains to him. “And we both know that it won’t be you.”
“You vile man,” Balinor says. “You used my love. You used my son.”
“And I would do it again. Do we have a deal?”
(Uther, desperately lonely after sending Arthur away to become a knight, manipulates Balinor into giving him Merlin to keep as his pet dragonlord. Balinor, furious at having been tricked a second time, joins a rising resistance to Uther's rule. When Arthur comes home, he falls in love with his father’s strange ward and in doing so unwittingly ignites a war.)

Summary
Arthur Pendragon had hoped to receive his Hogwarts letter after his sister, Morgana had gotten hers at eleven, so when Arthur's birthday came and went, and nothing came, he couldn't help but be disappointed in knowing that the closest he would get to magic was reading some of his sisters books she received from school.
Until Merlin came crashing into his life, and he found a new friend with magic. Except, this magic wasn't the same as his sisters. Merlin's eyes turned gold, and he needed no wand; not to mention the magic seemed to have connected itself onto Arthur for some reason. Merlin never got his letter either, so clearly something wasn't right.
As Merlin tries to learn magic by his own means, the two of them find out that there are people in the world who would like nothing more than to harness Merlin's strange magic for themselves.- Words:

“Merlin…” Arthur said as he slowly started to reach for his sword. “Don’t…Move…”
“No, no, no! Arthur, it’s alright!” Merlin said as he moved (because obviously he ignored Arthur’s orders and moved) in front of the desk. “She’s just saying hello!”
“That’s a dragon.” Arthur informed him. Merlin looked over his shoulder for a moment.
“No, it isn’t.”
There was a pause.
“Yes, it is.”
“No.” Merlin shook his head. “It…Uh, is not…A dragon.”
“Then what the Hell is it?!” Arthur asked, not letting his eyes drift away from the fire breathing demon. Yeah. That was definitely a dragon. Merlin clicked his tongue before also staring behind him.
“It is…A…Bird…”
There was another pause.
“You’re really sticking with that?”
“I am, thank you.”

Merlin has to convince the King of Camelot that he is not, in fact, in possession of a dragon. Luckily, the rest of the kingdom has already been won over by the baby dragon and is quite willing to aid in this quest.

(In a fit of terror, Arthur kills Merlin and regrets everything immediately. Two years later, he gets a chance to make things right when a man calling himself Emrys wanders back into his closest circle. Arthur thinks that he can make Merlin come back to him if only he treats this Emrys the way he should have treated Merlin. Emrys, meanwhile, isn't interested in alleviating Arthur's guilt. He wants to play out his own fairytale; the problem is that there's a dragon in the way.)
