    Duke blinks and finds Tim crouching in front of him, eyebrows furrowed in concern.

    “What’s wrong?” he asks. “Did you get spelled during patrol?”

    His voice is muffled, like Duke is underwater. Sinking, sinking. He tries to shrug, he tries to reply, but he’s so drained. There’s nothing left to give. He tilts to the side and with no strength to fight against gravity, he lets himself slide sideways against the wall.

    Tim catches him and the concern is easily replaced with panic.
