“Hi!” says a voice.
Viktor turns. Looks up.
Nearly dies.
Because there is an actual angel hovering over him, now. The first thing Viktor notices is his smile, friendly and sweet, with an adorable little gap between his front teeth. Viktor’s eyes travel down, to his chest slick with sweat, to the sunglasses hanging off the low scoop of his crop top, to the happy trail of dark hair that starts at his navel and leads down, to the little pudge of his stomach spilling over jean shorts that are very short. Their length—or lack thereof—showcases strong, muscled legs, a dark leg brace, and finally, the same four-wheeled skates the other servers are wearing.
The first thing Viktor thinks is: I want to eat him.
The second thing Viktor thinks is: What the fuck?
Jayce works as a carhop. Viktor is suffering.

The human smiles, cheeks suddenly flushed. “I don’t have my equipment on me,” he says, voice trembling with what Jayce thinks is suppressed glee, “But I am fairly certain that the noise you just made was simultaneously in two different frequencies. At least, from what I could hear- there may have been more layered frequencies that my ears cannot pick up, yes?”
Jayce drops his jaw in shock. This human… it can’t be…
“Are you a researcher too?”

“And I don’t?”, Jayce says in a small voice that breaks Viktor’s heart in a million pieces.
“No- of course I care about you but-... I am doing this for you. I don’t want you to-” To what? Viktor doesn’t actually know. He thinks that Jayce will find someone better but he knows that if he says so, Jayce will come up with 10 different reasons why that’s not true. Viktor is mortified. He can’t look at him right now.
Jayce’s voice rings in his ears. “Just tell me how you feel.”
Viktor’s eyes flutter close.
“I can’t.”------------
After another successful Distinguished Innovators Competition, Jayce and Viktor get drunk and head back to Viktor's apartment. The alcohol makes Jayce bold which doesn't help an already pining Viktor. Jayce gets too close and Viktor panics. -

Summary
Alternate Universe - Jayce and Viktor actually listen to Heimerdinger and give Hextech a decade to stabilize it. Throughout that decade they share many heartfelt, monumental moments in their research and partnership.
Heimerdinger was proud of the careful work Jayce and Viktor have put into hextech the past couple years, he brings up the idea of tours in their lab. Jayce finds the idea joyous, a moment to share his and viktors research. A moment to share his partner, Viktor. On the other hand, Viktor was a bit unsure. He was confident in their research but wasn't on his own appearance in their tours. A cripple, from the undercity? What a joke.
Viktor shares his distaste with the idea, but Heimerdinger already set the tours in motion. Jayce takes a hint at Viktors distaste and harsh self criticism and one night frustratingly snaps.
