The man pulls out a knife and for a moment Pierre freezes as he eyes the blade approaching his frame, only to understand what’s going on when the knife cuts through the knot on the back of his head.
Relief fills him once the gag is finally removed; it feels like he can breathe for the first time, just like a baby out of the womb. He coughs a bit before returning his eyes towards the stranger who has returned to his position beside Pierre, though now a crease between his brows has formed as he keeps eyeing quietly, until-
“Are you okay? Why are you down here?” The man asks in English, despite the two of them being in the middle of the Valdelobos region, Spain.
Regardless, Pierre has to restrain himself from just going back to sobbing his throat out, instead, he takes a deep breath before responding.
“Please help me…! They took us and trapped me here, I don’t know what’s going on, j-just- help me, please!”

You point the gun to your head. It’s nothing much. The chances of death are only 16.6%. The chances are low, but still there. Your hands don’t shake when the gun is pointed right at your skill.
Leon’s gaze lingers on you with a weight that is difficult to name—something between accusation and disbelief. He does not speak right away. Instead, his eyes sweep over you slowly, deliberately, as if trying to reconcile what he sees with what he thinks he knows. The quiet hum of the room does little to mask the undercurrent of charged silence between you.
His posture remains guarded—shoulders squared, spine straight—but his jaw flexes slightly, betraying the strain behind his composure.
CLICK!
The sound tears through the room like a blade.
You blink once—twice—then realize your head is still intact. No searing pain. No fracture. No blood. No hole.
His Adam’s apple bobbed once, a subtle movement that betrayed the tension tightening his throat—but he didn’t flinch. He stood perfectly still, eyes locked on you, his expression unreadable. The motion was involuntary, almost imperceptible, as if his body reacted before his mind allowed any emotion to surface.
With a smile you are sure he didn’t see, you handed the gun to him. “You can still refuse to play, and wait till tomorrow night for the second question?”
His gaze was still present. So was the hesitation.He looked down at the weapon resting in his hands, thumb brushing over the edge of the cylinder as if weighing something heavier than metal.
Then, he spoke—calm, but clipped.
“Let’s raise the stakes.”
Your eyes narrowed slightly.
“I’ll pull the trigger twice,” he continued, “in exchange for two questions—back to back. No deflections. You answer both.”
The silence tightened. He didn’t smile. He didn’t blink.
Just sat there with the gun between you and tension like glass between teeth.
“I see we’re proposing deals now?” you said, your tone level, but there was a glint beneath it—something quiet and sharp.
Leon didn’t smile. “You don’t strike me as someone who fears odds.”
You didn’t answer that. Instead, you inclined your head, wings folding a fraction tighter behind you. “Two questions. Two pulls. Sure.”
He nodded once, then raised the revolver again—but this time, he didn’t spin the chamber.
Your gaze flicked to the weapon, then back to his eyes.
“You’re not randomizing.” Your head tilted as you shuffled in the beanbag.
“No,” he said. “I’m not.”
The metal pressed cold against his temple. He pulled the trigger.
CLICK!
Empty.
A breath passed. Neither of you moved.
Without a word, he lifted it again.
CLICK!
The second shot cracked like thunder in the small apartment—but the bullet hadn’t struck you. It hadn’t been for you.
He exhaled slowly, lowering the gun with an unreadable expression.
“I’ve held my side of the deal,” he said quietly.
“Now answer.”
He puts the gun on the table. You snatch it.
CLICK!
You press the muzzle to your own temple, again.
Nothing. Just the hollow echo of dead metal.
You shift the angle. CLICK! Another pull.
Still nothing. The cylinder groans faintly with each turn, but no shot fires.
One more. CLICK!
Three times in a row. Cold steel, dead silence.
Leon watches in absolute stillness. His brows draw together, faintly furrowed, the only visible crack in his control. His confusion isn’t loud, but it’s there—settling behind his eyes like a storm beginning to gather.
That was Six pulls. Six chambers.
He doesn’t speak. Doesn’t move. But you know what’s turning in his mind.
You lower the revolver slowly.
Then—without ceremony—you lift your hand to your mouth.
There’s a pause, a breathless beat, and then the unmistakable clink of metal against enamel. Your jaw shifts once.
You spit the single round into your palm.
It lands heavy and gleaming in the quiet. A single bullet. Untouched. Whole. Impossible.
You set the revolver gently on the table beside you. Then, beside it, the bullet—like evidence, or a message. Maybe both.
You don’t say anything.
Leon doesn’t see your face. He still hasn’t—not clearly. The smaller sets of wings curl outward from your temples, soft and pale, obscuring your expression like a veil. But he sees enough to know that this wasn’t chance. That the odds were irrelevant the moment you accepted the deal.
“Ask away.” Two words. One sentence. Zero misunderstandings.
Leon doesn’t look at the bullet. Not the gun. Not the table. Only you.
