In all honesty, Day did not think that the arbitrary line he set between them in the car that sunny afternoon would be respected by Mhok.
He didn’t think the line would have been disrespected to the point of actual discomfort, of course. He knows Mhok enough to believe that he would stop the minute he senses genuine discomfort from Day, but he expected… jokes. He expected casual references to that conversation. It is in Mhok’s nature to tease and unravel the actual content from beneath the surface of everything Day says.
Day did not expect his obedience.
OR: a canon divergence au where Gee and Day's conversation in ep7 goes a lot differently and Mhok just happens to overhear it.
