8 year old Dylan Harper has always been a target of bullying due to his non-traditional family. He's adopted, has two moms, and an Asian older sister. He also completely fails to live up to the standards of a typical boy his age. He's lived his entire life like this in the quiet beach town of Green Cove, thinking nothing will ever change.
Luke Meyer is forced to move to town with his dad, who came to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant. When he notices a boy his age being bullied by other kids, he channels his obsession with knights and chivalry to step in and defend him! But Luke's own issues with anger, family, and being forced to uproot his entire life threaten Green Cove's peace.
Together, the two boys will grow, learn, fail, and contend with the age old question of who they are, and who they really want to be. But through the years, their bond will remain constant, even as it grows and changes with them.
