Kel and his family offered to let Sunny stay at their house while Sunny is trying to find a home and get his life back together, and you know, find some happiness. Summary
Sunny and Basil told the truth.
Their friends took a little, but they eventually forgave both of them, letting Sunny and Basil's years of self-torment be their punishment. The group stayed true to their promise, keeping in touch even after Sunny's move; it wasn't uncommon for a very annoyed Hero to have to shut down a 2AM chatroom about Captain Spaceboy, or Sweetheart, or whatever had caught the younger teens' eyes that day.
It's been a year since that day in the hospital, and Sunny has mostly settled into his new life, finally going back to high school in the city, and visiting Faraway whenever Hero was back from college. His (admittedly nice) mundane existence is interrupted by the sudden return of a certain someone, and he couldn't be happier about it. He *had* forgotten one thing though.
Mari was So. Damn. Annoying.
He wouldn't have it any other way.

All Hero sees is a blur. His senses are taking a while to come to him, but the first thing he notices is that he feels oddly light. He has no idea where he is, but it’s the perfect ambient temperature. He thinks there’s a person in front of him—a girl, by the register of her voice. What did she say?
“Hero, sweetie?” Sweetie? Is his mom in front of him? But the voice doesn’t quite match, and this girl’s hair is too dark anyway. It’s nearly the same color as Sunny’s, but much longer. Actually, it reminds him of—

At the end of a several-months long battle with cancer, Hero awakes as a spirit and reunites with the girl he thought he’d never see again. Before he can properly catch up with her though, he needs to check on the family he’s left behind, especially his brother.
He knew Kel would be upset, but he didn’t expect him to be doing this badly.
