Zuko knew he shouldn’t cry in front of Firelord Azulon. He should know better. Princes weren’t allowed to cry or show emotions. Yet the stream of tears wouldn’t stop, even as he tried his hardest to stop the onslaught of water flowing down his cheeks, onto his robes and shaking arms.
As tears clogged the eleven year old’s vision, Ozai leaned down to his only son, placing a cold hand to his shoulder. He leaned in close to Zuko’s trembling face, contorted by grief and sadness, and whispered in his ear
“There’s no one to watch your bedroom door now.”

Much like many sixteen year olds, Aang got a car for his birthday.
Unlike every other sixteen year old Sokka had met in his seventeen going on eighteen years of life, the monks who raised Aang insisted it was for a life changing journey across two continents.
Maybe Sokka was exaggerating.
Maybe Zuko wore those cute bright dolphin shorts exclusively for Sokka's benefit.
Maybe Sokka was exaggerating that too.Or; It takes Zuko running away and seeing the world to learn what family means. Sokka already knew what it felt like. It takes Sokka a minor concussion to know what home feels like. Zuko already knew what it meant.

Since the passing of their mentors, friends, and family of the Order, The Gaang has long since moved on from their grief and losses—growing old as they ran their duties and started their own families. Starting with Zuko had it already been difficult to deal with the loss of his dearest Uncle, but over time was he able to move on.
And yet, the spirits had other plans. When new dangers arise to threaten the new age of peace and balance within the world, and with the little time and affordability the Gaang has—balancing between personal life and World-wide duties—the spirits only added more into the mix with something they least expected. If only their masters were there to help.
Only they were. Except, all knowledge and their decades worth of wisdom had been reduced to a teenage brain.
