He knew he was going to die, there was no fighting it, but he wanted to make sure his wife and children would be okay when he did. He wanted to see Toothless one last time before he reached Valhalla.

Mesmerized by the warrior who holds him up and looks at him like he's the center of her universe, Hiccup leans forward to capture her lips. Astrid returns the kiss, nibbling on his bottom lip and making him groan into her mouth. Without missing a beat, she walks forward until his back hits the wall. Her hold on his legs never falters, still kissing him.
Thor Almighty, he can't believe he's marrying this woman in a couple of months. He's going to be her husband. She's going to be his wife.
Her lips move to his cheek and then his jaw. He jolts when he feels her teeth scrape his skin slightly. "Milady, you're killing me. I think I see the gates of Valhalla," he blubbers.
