Summary
Karl and Quackity were having an eventful night of running from the cop they pulled a prank on, that suddenly ended when they reached a dead end. They truly couldn't get caught as a sleep deprived George would definitely not bail them out. A sudden force pulling them up would have to do as an escape and meeting a strange being stressing about his studies was just a bonus.
(If the cop genuinely thought he accidentally got high and hallucinated the two trouble-makers escaping via UFO that was not the duos problem)

During his time travel, Karl Jacobs has been to a ton of different times and places. It wasn't uncommon for him to maybe have a small crush on someone he met or vice versa. He never acted on those feelings though, mainly because it would never work. He would eventually have to go home.

Quackity is just your totally average duck that just happens to have the ability to turn human with a smooch. It's something that never really interested him- Humans suck, they litter his pond and give him nothing but crap bread. But, despite making a bad first impression, Karl seems like one of the better ones. And he's cute.
Cute enough that Quackity is willing to go to outrageous lengths just to get close to him, on two human legs no less.

He had no idea who the pasty-skinned person at his door was so late at night. He had no idea why the figure pleaded to be invited in, nor why he was clutching his arm. No one should be out in the woods that late, especially in a storm. But no bother.
Karl reached for the door handle, the shocking silver sending chills through him, and opened the door. The first thing he saw was the pool of blood on the floor where the stranger stood. The next minute, he was knocked unconscious.
