A ringing started to fill Rumi’s ears. She couldn’t breathe anymore. Her head was throbbing and her chest was burning. She couldn’t let them see her patterns. She couldn’t let them know what she’s been hiding. She couldn’t lose their blind but loving trust.
Suddenly, a sharp pain snapped her out of her daze.
Her back felt like it had ignited with flames.
She let out a weak gasp. Her eyes shot wide and her pupils dilated. Her saingeom clattered to the floor beside her.
Standing behind her, Jinu chuckled with his fangs out. “Should have been watching your back.” He pulled his clawed hand away from her back and slipped to her side. Shreds of leather fell to the floor as blood dripped off his fingertips. He eyed the five gashes that stretched across her spine and smirked. “Later.”

Mira spots the patterns first. Patterns on the tiniest infant humans that she has seen, little hamsters to tiny puppies sitting dolled in wires. The names on the cribs which weren’t a lottery spin.

What if the Saja Boys were together through the hell of running endlessly across the underworld looking for a way out?

Well, the boys, who have become a little something more than friends, get their first break when they finally make it to Earth. Now they must deal with their hunger, a K-pop demon hunting group and the feeling of inevitability knowing Gwi-ma is waiting just underneath for any one of them to falter. Jinu intends to make sure he and his boys survive, THRIVE in the human world. And though it’s a fleeting dream, maybe someday be free of the risk of being dragged down to hell because of any threat.
Jinu will make sure it happens.

Zoey finally looks at her. Her eyes shine.
Rain fills the silence between them, steady and relentless, drumming against the overhang like a heartbeat.
“You’re so kind,” Zoey breathes. “So soft, even when you try not to be.”
Mira swallows hard. She looks away for a fraction of a second like she’s bracing herself, then back because Zoey deserves that honesty.
“Only for you and Rumi, Zo.”
The words settle heavy and warm between them. The rain hushes around them like a witness.

Without another word, he sighed and disguised himself as a human. He didn’t change his features and only modified his skin colour to be looking less like a demon or a corpse and more like a real human, like he used to look like. His clothes, though, changed radically : instead of a dopo, he was now wearing a black suit with slightly lighter trousers and strange white shoes he had never seen before. Under that jacket, he had a turtle-neck, almost anthracite, and the whole thing was covering his body rather distinguishably and in a formal yet sober way.
"So you want me to take care of the logistic if I understand you well ?” Seong asked, already thinking about the whole implication.
It wasn’t to displease him. Better that than being some dancing jester on a stage !
Jinu knew Seong was a fast learner and a good strategist and warrior. Still, that collaboration wouldn’t be the most loving one.
After another sigh, he gave Seong that strange little rectangular device with a stern face.
“This is a phone. It will be more than useful. As for your title, congratulations : you are now our manager !”

Dans ce tableau, tout aurait pu être parfait, son apparence, les autres membres du groupe et la vie en dehors du royaume de Gwi-Ma. Tout aurait pu être parfait, mais Romance était entré sur la scène. Romance parfaitement agaçant, parfaitement charmant et qui sans faire aucun effort réussissait toujours à faire se sentir Abby malade. La vue de l'autre démon donnait envie à Abby de l'écraser, de le surpasser, et il était prêt à tout pour le faire.
