Tony pushed the boy away, but he didn't have time to protect himself. A beam of energy exploded against the armor, knocking him back. The impact made Stephen lose concentration, the spell failed, and the world became chaos.
When the dust settled, Strange ran to him, ignoring his own forehead wound. Tony lay on the floor, his chest rising and falling unevenly.

In the center was something straight out of a comedy, but with all the formality in the world: a marriage certificate. Tony Edward Stark and Stephen Vincent Strange, dated 1998, in Las Vegas. Surrounding it, a few amateur photos showed the two laughing uncontrollably, clearly drunk, signing papers and improvising wedding rings with a crooked, awkward smile.
Tony blinked several times in disbelief, trying to process what he was seeing. —"Fri... are you telling me I got married and I don't remember!?"

Stephen Strange was a doctor who got defenestrated and broke his hands. And he's not even joking. So when he learns that nothing will save his hands and he will never be able to operate again, he uses his stubbornness and is told about a mystical place in the Himalayas: Kamar-Taj.
Tony Stark was never Iron Man. He was never a hero, never anything except 'genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist'. Tony Stark was told that he is going to die. He doesn't want to die so, after hearing about the mysterious 'Kamar-Taj' from an employee, he decides to give it a shot.
When the two meet, they start to form a close friendship and eventually, they fall for the other. Hard. But hypothermia, ancient magical threats, their own stubbornness, childhood trauma, and society itself threaten to tear their friendship apart.
Fortunately, things happen and the universe decides that yes, they should get together in the end.
**Disclaimer: half of this fic was written in 2022 and the other half was written in 2025 after I had an accidental three year hiatus between chapters 19 and 20**
