Zuko and Iroh differed in many ways, but not in an important one.
---He was not prepared for the extent of his brother’s inhumanity. He did not know that no amount of love from himself would change Ozai into a kind man. Despite all the evidence, he believed his brother was, deep down, a good person. All the way up until—

Summary
If Mushi is a firebender, it's not his fault. The people of Ba Sing Se don't like firebenders, but Mushi fought on their side. He helped liberate the city. And everyone here likes him.
If Mushi is just an ordinary firebender, then he can be forgiven, because everyone knows that the world is changing and that the current Fire Lord is trying to bring peace.
But if Mushi is Iroh, the Dragon of the West, then the situation is completely different.
Ba Sing Se will not forgive the Dragon of the West. Ever.

Summary
Iroh laughs at him. “True revolution is not usually so glorious as that, Doctor. And there was only so long you could pretend to simply be ‘tutoring academics’ before you were caught out.”
He only grumbles in response, snatching the bottle from Cook to pour himself more.
“Sometimes rebellion is feeding the hungry,” Cook says. “Sometimes it really is just being nice.”
“When the thing you’re rebelling against is cruelty,” Iroh interjects before Isami can argue, “kindness is the guiding star for young people. We would be wise not to forget that.”

Summary
All Avatar: the Last Airbender drabbles, all the time. Each installment will tend to be character-centric, usually with a darker tinge to them (though there's some humor). I'm always looking for succinct prompt ideas, so please leave a comment with some.
Summaries for the most recent chapters
Drabble No. 12: Jet had his little gang, and it's a perfectly adequate found family. But it's not enough to erase his past trauma.
Drabble No. 13: Hama is the last waterbender alive in the Fire Nation prison. With no one but the rats and guards to interact with, something in her snaps.
Drabble No. 14: On Ji was a bit in love with Kuzon, but more so enraptured with the shift in thinking he wrought, the changes he left in his wake.
Drabble No. 15: A set of four haiku on each of the four elements. Might be my favorite of the bunch (so far).
Drabble No. 16: Wan Shi Tong is really a simple spirit. The owl just wants to know everything. Why, then, is he still not satisfied with his lot in life?
Drabble No. 17: After the war, Katara and Mai still pursue each other. Their mutual hostility hasn't wholly gone away, only been redirected. But sometimes, the simplest of things end up getting in the way. -

Summary
Can fictional politics surpass reality in entertainment? It's primary season for the Republicans, and the candidates are none other than Iroh, Santa Claus, and Squidward, among others. Their campaigns quickly go off the rails, and they face one controversy after another. The only question is, who can secure the nomination and face the Democrats in the presidential election? And even more importantly – who will the Democrats choose to compete against them?

Summary
Before Sozin's Comet arrives, Iroh writes a letter about the greatest mistake he made, the lit path Zuko found once more, the tragedy of Azula's rise, the hatred of the old generation passing it to the youth, the kindness of the people caught in this century-long war, and the cruelty yet compassion of those who weave fate.

Summary
After Azula wounded Iroh in the abandoned Earth Kingdom village, Zuko brought him to the only place he can think of for help: the mixed Fire-Earth family he had stayed with when his ostrich horse needed a rest. The last time he was there, he was just Lee. This time they figure out who he and Iroh are - and offer them their hospitality anyway.
Zuko and Iroh may be welcome here, but this family has ties to the Fire Nation that go back before the war started, and some very strong opinions about what it's doing now. Iroh is confronted with his military past with the Earth Kingdom, while Zuko struggles to accept the family's open affection and respect for him.
Both of them have a lot to learn from a lame firebender who walks with a crutch and taught himself to master his element in the middle of the Earth Kingdom.
