Thancred is a bit disturbed, has had depression and serious trauma for obvious reasons, which I plan on touching upon in later chapters/also still seeps through at times.

Alisaie loses her brother when they’re just eleven summers old.
At sixteen, hunting primals across Eorzea and fighting Garleans at the side of the Warrior of Light, she runs into her mirror – a boy with hair as white as hers, dressed in Ishgardian finery, the Temple Knights inclining their heads when he passes like he always belonged among the snow and stone.
Alisaie watches as fine cloaks drape over her brother’s shoulders, careful gloves wipe away his tears, and mugs of hot chocolate warm his hands. She watches as Ishgard softens its harsh edges for him, and she asks the wind, she asks Louisoix, “Is this really my brother, or a cruel facsimile?”

So a bit of artwork on Twitter and a comment thread later and I just HAD to write a modern AU for our favorite Heavensward characters. I don't care if I get hate for this, it was fun as hell to write and I'm still grinning.
The fighting in Ishgard has gone on long enough, and Aymeric de Borel and his team of elite bodyguards are prepared to take over the city and fix it. Using money, muscle, hustle, and all sorts of underground connections they slowly liberate the city from the crushing grasp of the Holy See, the crime syndicate that has held the populace in its grip for as long as anyone can remember. Now the Dravanian Horde, which has been content to cause trouble elsewhere in Coerthas, is planning to make their mark on the city, and Aymeric isn't having any of that, either...

The aftermath of the Banquet is a disaster that poses a challenge for Haurchefant and Elise (F!WoL) to outmaneuver her father's, Lucien, attempts at manipulating her back into his influence. Follows the travel (and a conversation with Cid), the first talk (Haurchefant, Elise, Lucien) and then the arrangement (Haurchefant, Elise) to keep her and hers safe, nobody is having a generally fun time and it's being a generally stressful time for everyone (understatement of the century).

Summary
Rift is one of many Warriors of Light who were called to Ishgard to help with the ongoing war against the Dravanian horde. At least, that's what he's been told—he wouldn't know anything about it, or anything at all that happened prior to being found in the Brume with nothing but his life, his soul crystal, the very clothes on his body, and not a single memory of how he ended up there and how.
His auri ancestry putting him in a precarious position inside a city that doesn't care much to differentiate between his kind and their sworn enemy, joining their frantic crusade as an inquisitor to stay on his hosts' good side seemed like a good idea at the time...that is, until one particular execution goes so disastrously wrong that he'll soon end up questioning not only the circumstances and meaning of his own life and death, but just about all of his beliefs and oaths.
And that redhead witch, who by all means should be dead...plays a non-negligible role in that.

She spun towards the source of it to see the crowd that had formed around her parting for a familiar figure — an Elezen man, with raven-black hair and piercing blue eyes, and a noble bearing about him that at once commanded respect and put one at ease. Lord Aymeric de Borel made his way over to her, ignoring the murmurs of the parting crowd, and placed a gloved hand on her shoulder.
"There you are, my friend," he said, his eyes on hers composed and reassuring, but the slight frown and furrow of his brow just barely betraying true concern that she could only perceive up close like this. "Are these people troubling you?"
