La voce di Lyza sembra emergere dalla stoppa stessa del cuscino su cui è riversa, impastata da un sonno che non riesce a sopraffarla, e dal sentore legnoso del liquore che scorre a fiumi, dopo una risalita, nella taverna dirimpetto all’edificio della Gilda.
Ripone foglio e carboncino nel cassetto, soffiando sulle dita per liberarsi della polvere scura rimasta incastrata sotto le unghie e nelle pieghe delle nocche, quindi ribatte, nel tono innocuo che sa innervosirla di più: “Controllo che non le venga di nuovo voglia di vomitare sul mio materasso, maestra. Qui a Belchero non sono molto generosi con i ricambi…”
