The words ring hollow. He could reach for his phone right now, call his mother for reassurance like he always does when the nightmares get bad, but what would he even say right now? I realized I have a crush on my best friend and colleague, so I’m losing my shit. Oh, and he hates me now, along with Seeun!
Hate, Yechan realizes, is a bit of a stretch, but it damn well feels like it.

It’s like this that Junghoon reaches the chorus, throat feeling so different than when they sing by themselves. Cause I’m off my face, in love with you, they manage to get out perfectly, eyes opening for a brief moment and accidentally connecting with Yechan’s, and this panics them enough to close their eyes again and turn their body in a different direction. Shit.
Not that this hinders their singing anyhow. If anything, it propels them to keep at it.
Before they know it, the song has reached an end, and they’re riding a different kind of high, one they haven’t felt since they were a kid participating in elementary school competitions. The people clap and applaud and—and Yechan. His eyes are sparkling as he grins, waving at Junghoon, whose cheeks flush with happiness.
