Summary
Katara had been so sure of her plan to liberate the prison rig. How was she to know how efficiently the guards would respond to an uprising? Zuko had been positive that his best course of action was to travel separate from his Uncle. What else was he supposed to do when he came across a person from his past? Sometimes, through all the doubt, two people collide. Eventual Zutara.
This is both a Canon Related and Canon Divergent, reimagined ATLA story. Katara joins Zuko in his journey of self-discovery across the Earth Kingdom as personalities clash and beliefs are questioned. Familiar allies and enemies await them along the way.
Ripple effects of having Katara absent from the majority of 'Book 1: Water,' are seen once Katara and Zuko meet up with the Gaang later on in the story. 'Book 1: Water' occurs mainly in the flashbacks of this story as Chapter 1 picks up close to the start of 'Book 2: Earth.'
The most recent chapters explore the aftermath of the conclusion of the Hundred Year War.

Kya is also her grandmother’s water child with fire temper, raised on stories of a world without war, of kindness across boarders. She knows Kyoshi was earth and air, her own children water and fire. She knows there are aura seers with air blood on the flaming isles and heard rumors of water blood within the widespread earth. She knows deep down they are all the same, and that war is seldom cut and dry the longer it goes on and on until the casus belli has been forgotten by all but the all-knowing owl spirit of the desert.
Kya knows this war must end and wants it more than anything, but she can’t help but wonder how many people will be able to move on, and if she will be one of them.
Looking at the sprawling metropolis of the Northern Water Tribe, abundant in people, benders and resources, she doubts it.

Summary
Katara, a young girl from the Southern Water Tribe, spends the first 14 years of her life believing she is the last waterbender of her tribe. That is until one day while arguing with her brother Sokka, she sets their canoe on fire with her foot, effectively changing the course of their lives forever.
In order to become a fully realized Avatar, Katara must first embark on a journey around the world in order to master all four elements and bring balance back to the world. Their first destination is the Northern Water Tribe, where Katara hopes to master her core element. But right behind Katara and Sokka are Prince Zuko and Princess Azula, both eager to capture Katara and bring her back to the Fire Nation in order to return home.
The path to bringing balance back to the world is not a straightforward one and Katara must race to master all four elements before the Fire Nation can bring her and their war to an end.

Summary
The man stared for a long time. The smile he bore had been completely wiped clean as he studied the scarring. Zuko’s skin itched with anxiety at the odd attention he was given and shot a scowl at the warrior, startling him out of his thoughts. The man offered an apologetic yet awkward smile as he patted his chest and started to speak. It took Zuko a moment to realize that what was being said was a very horribly butchered attempt at Fire Nation formal language. A horrendous introduction.
“My name is Sokka, son of Chief Hakoda.” He introduced with what the savage may have thought was casual ease judging by the sideways smile and the warmth in his eyes. Then proceeded to ask, pointing at Zuko to get his meaning across. “Your name is Li, right?”
‘Okay so they don’t know who I am.’ Zuko didn’t let his sigh of relief show as he nodded slowly in confirmation.

Zuko slips into the scouting party that is sent on a mission to gather intel on an Earth Kingdom encampment only to be ambushed by Water Tribe warriors and taken as a prisoner of war. Zuko finds himself masquerading as Private Li, the Fire Nation scout as he receives a one way trip to the South Pole.
