Summary
Zuko had known for some time now. The feelings had crept up on him slowly, quietly, over the past few months. They were undeniable. He had tried to ignore them, bury them deep within, but they only seemed to grow stronger. She was everything—strong, compassionate, beautiful—and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. But Katara was the Avatar’s girl, and he was the Fire Lord. There was no place for someone like him in her world, no room for his feelings. He told himself it was foolish to hope.
Yet, just when he thought he had it all figured out, Katara made a choice that no one, least of all Zuko, saw coming. Her decision would change everything, pushing them both to face what had been simmering between them for far too long.

Summary
To commemorate the end of the Hundred Years' War and to ensure nothing like that ever happens again, the Four Nations agree to hold a Summit every year. Two weeks of political talks, cultural immersion and utter harmony. As Fire Lord, Zuko is in charge of hosting the first, set in the Fire Nation capital. As war-heroes, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Suki and of course Aang are among the guests.
However, as Katara finds herself yearning for a life beyond that of the Avatar's faithful companion, it appears that politics will not be the only turbulent waters they have to navigate.

Summary

“I’ve learned my lesson there,” Zuko grumbles. She kicks at a snowy hill as they walk by, watching the frozen powder fly. “These boots are really impressive, by the way. I can’t feel the cold at all.”
“They’re made from the fur of tiger-seals,” Sokka tells her proudly. There is something extremely gratifying about the foreign Princess’s appreciation for their craft, Katara has to admit. “They won’t make you invincible, though. Sokka is born with two marks, one mark indicates one of his soulmates will be from the Earth Kingdom, the other mark says his second soulmate will be from the Fire Nation. He rejects his second soulmate after his mother is killed by Fire Nation soldiers.
Suki is born with two marks, one mark indicates that one of her soulmates will be from the Water Tribe, the other mark says her second soulmate will be from the Fire Nation. She spends her whole life needing to prove herself to her village and to her warriors that she is loyal to them and not to the Fire Nation despite what her soulmark says.
Zuko is born with two marks, but he doesn't know what his marks look like or what part of the world his soulmates are from because both of his soulmarks are now just scars inflicted upon him by his father who decided that his son was weak for having soulmates and was forbidden from ever finding them.
But fate is an unstoppable force that can transcend any and all obstacles that stand in its path. It can even allow a relationship to develop and grow from the ashes of a century-long war.

Zuko used to love the rain. He would sit on the balcony with his mother, and she would run her fingers over his face and hands while humming, putting him to sleep. He would stand on the deck of his ship, rain pounding hard on steel. He’d watch lightning crack the sky, feel the thunder reverberate through his chest, and breathe. He was going to do that someday, he just had to keep training. Keep pushing. It was glorious, how in the dark purple clouds every swirling crevice was revealed when lit for that split-second. He’d meditate to the sound of the rain on his ship, feeling enclosed and safe.
“I wanted to tell him. I wanted him to know.” He answered. I wanted to make sure I would never be tempted to go back was left unsaid.
“You have a habit of not expecting kindness from people, though.”
“People don’t often make a habit of being kind to me.”
