Shadow immediately winced at the poor choice of words. He stepped forward, ready to interrupt when he saw how Sonic's eyes dilated and focused with an intensity he'd never seen before on said foot.
Tails seemed to sense the awkwardness in the air and his mistake, so he tried again with a small chirp. "Sonic, that's not what I meant. I meant that it doesn't even hurt."
The other didn't spare a glance, instead mumbling, "Yeah, you can't feel it because the swelling has probably already cut off circulation or something."

Summary
Kitsunami the Fennec has been part of the Restoration for 10 years. He learned how to help others, how to make friends, how to feel useful, how to be happy. Eventually the months had turned into years and she had settled into a nice and comfortable life with new friends, but there was one person she never lost contact with all these years. A trusted friend turned into a potential lover. What she didn't count on was that Sonic had never given up on looking for her.
