"Obviously you've never fought a war," Warriors deadpanned. "Got any injuries?"
"No, for both, but still! Unholy amounts of enemies? Fine. I get it. But barely twenty? Against the nine of us? Goddesses, I could take out twenty alone on half my adventures within ten minutes!"
"Oh shut up," Wild snorted. "Yeah right."
Legend opened his mouth to retort only for not a sound to fall out. He sat up quickly as he heard Hyrule pipe up to side with him but that wasn't his worry.
Why couldn't he speak?

Summary
Stranded in a monster infested swamp, each member of The Chain have sustained injuries minor to major during their trek to civilization. Low on supplies and magic, they're extra careful and try to do everything right especially their communication. That includes taking frequent breaks, speaking up when injured and not overusing magic. Despite all of this, Legend's routine flesh wound somehow contracts an infection none of them can treat at the source. They have two options: Find the Great Fairy or A Doctor. Unfortunately, that takes time that Legend might not have.
Just a Slight twist on the "Person Hides Injury and Lives to Regret it", because sometimes you can do everything right and still fail. Even if you're a hero.

He was borrowing it. He was borrowing the Sword of Legend, and… what, checking in to see if it was needed? Waiting for a hero to come for it?
It wasn’t sure what to think. It wasn’t supposed to think about its wielders. But it found itself looking forward to the stories, keeping an eye out while the boy slept, memorizing as much of the information he gave it as it could.
Its job was to protect the innocent, after all.
Or: Hyrule finds a sword. The sword has opinions about this.
