“Raph?” His whisper is soft, tentative, as he kneels down beside his brother’s bed. Leo reaches out a hand to help, but realizes with a little bit of shame that he doesn’t actually know what’s wrong.
A clipped whine leaves Raph’s throat, and it’s enough to send all the nerves in Leo’s body to red alert. Something primal and instinctual activates in his chest, forcing him to find the cause of pain and fix it, because Raph should never make that sound. That sound is born of hurt and fear, and it should only be for other people, not Leo’s little brother.
Or: The aftermath of Raph's broken ribs from Tottmnt episode 3. Apparently not telling anyone about an injury only brings chaos in the middle of the night.

somewhat an AU for shredded descent, in the sense that it's the darkest timeline of events. my own kind of a cathartic therapeutic exploration of putting my characters through a wood chipper and seeing if i can build them back up. i think i can. but it might take a while.
this is a bit of a cringe soap opera for real

Set immediately after Michelangelo rescues Leonardo from the prison dimension.
Recovery isn’t a straight path—anyone could tell you that. It’s messy, unpredictable, and full of setbacks. For Leonardo, it’s a lesson he’s forced to learn after being torn from a dimension he fully expected to die in. Escaping death doesn’t mean escaping the scars it left behind. Now, back with his family, he faces the daunting challenge of healing wounds that run deeper than the physical. The mental and emotional burdens he carried into that dimension didn’t vanish when he left it.
But recovery isn’t just Leonardo’s journey. His brothers and friends are left grappling with their pain—pain made worse by the harsh truth that Leonardo was willing to sacrifice himself without looking back. Trust has been shaken, relationships strained, and the family must figure out how to rebuild together.
Later in the story, another layer is added when the wounds have begun to mend and Leonardo starts to rediscover who he is outside of the burden he once carried. The relationship builds naturally, unfolding in the later chapters after the heart of the family story has been told.

The Hamato clan was not like many others in the Sengoku period they fought for their people, defended their homes, and spared children from life on the streets. They said to be protected by the light of the sun itself. A prophecy has said that if the last of the Hamatos were ever to be ill they shall be blessed by the light of the sun itself. Hundreds of years passed Yoshi's eldest fell deadly ill and he couldn't do anything but watch as Leonardo got paler and paler, then a miracle happened, while forging for food he saw a drop fall from the heavens. Came that little drop a glowing lotus flower. Uprooting it and making medicine, healed Leonardo. But soon the little turtle began growing beautiful golden hair, that grew and grew, and grew, and grew! Now Leo is fifteen along with his brothers living in the forests outside of New York, and going on his first adventure in the Big Apple. Now he has the deal with aliens, a rival ninja clan, and a growing crush on a samurai rabbit. At least he can heal his brothers.
