Summary
Technoblade was an average guy, he watched his college lessons, went to work and played video games. He was never into "There's life out there in space!!" kind of thing, he liked movies or games about aliens but otherwise it was whatever really.
Now, trapped behind a holographic energy field, he regrets it.
Maybe there was some information he could've gotten, some clue as to why they do this or some way to plead, to implore, for them to stop.

He swallows the anxiety burning his insides like torturous fumes. And with the courage he has saved up for these past one thousand nine hundred and thirty-six days, he speaks his son's name and it slips off his tongue as easily as it always has.

Phil's son has been dead for five years. Until a hero with healing powers who looks exactly like him saves him from certain death by a collapsing building.
On the other hand, Techno is not having a very fun time locked up in a room with no recollection of his father whatsoever.

Summary
Philza the vampire waited with his hand stuck out, tilting his head to copy Techno when he tilted his head in confusion, one big ear flopping to the side. He scented the air again, trying to get a better read on his intentions, but he was met with nothing but honesty and eagerness, the man smiling on patiently.
Unwilling to shift back into his human form, Techno simply took a half step forward, sniffed Philza’s hand once, and then pushed his nose into it briefly as a greeting. He stepped back quickly, and the vampire seemed satisfied.
“It’s nice to know one’s neighbors, I think. I hope we can stay friendly.”
Techno tilted his head again at the words, but Philza simply turned on his heal and walked back up his own path, back the way he had come, on silent feet. Techno watched him go until he had fully disappeared from sight before resuming his patrol of his boarders.-//-

He once tried asking his father, the king, why some birds have strings tied to their feet. But all the man he's grown to call ‘Your Majesty’ and never ‘Papa’ did was make sure he'd never ask again.
But Techno was curious. So he did, he did ask again.
It ended with him being locked in a cellar with a racing heart and a bruise on his cheek. That story is one he'll choose to forget anyday.
That's why he talks to Phil, even if the crow, of course, never utters anything back. He walks the bird through how his day went, and how it's going to go for the following weeks. Monotonous. Painfully monotonous.

But he could feel something following him. No, not something. Someone.
He turns swiftly on his heel to catch this ’someone’. They could be anyone, really. A robber or a lost tourist or a deranged escapee about to maul him or a merchant trying to give him free samples.
However, it was none of those things.
It was a boy no younger than ten.
And this boy jumps at the realisation he had been caught, then bolts to a nearby cart to hide behind it, which in its entirety, is useless, for Techno had already spotted him.

It wasn’t that he was against cats. He had no opinion on them whatsoever, actually. But this one definitely seemed to have an opinion on him.
“I don’t have any food on me,” he told the cat firmly. “I really don’t. So you - you should go pester someone else.”
The cat meowed at him again and Technoblade sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I’ve told you the facts! Sooner or later you’ll accept them.”
The cat just kept gazing at him. Its eyes were a brilliant sky-blue. Isn’t that rare for cats?
______________________________Technoblade is lonely. At this point, he doesn't really see a way out - his apartment and his life are both a complete mess, and nothing will change that.
Or so he thinks.
Until a small black cat forces its way into his life.

Thirteen years ago, Techno was abducted by aliens, who upon realizing he was sentient decided to recruit him into an elite crime syndicate of thieves, smugglers and mercenaries known as Hypixel. The entirety of his teen years were spent undercover, committing various acts of theft and espionage all in the hopes of undermining the severely corrupt Galactic Coalition. And though it was an exciting life, it was a lonely one.
So what does he do when he finds another human locked up in an underground bunker?
He takes them and runs.

“I screwed up,” Wilbur whispers. Techno looks at Wilbur’s wand and his heart sinks.
A wand could withstand a lot of things, and it was unheard of to need to replace it.
Unless the wielder did something so taxing that the wand shattered underneath the weight of the magic.
The wand in question was splintered into so many pieces, some protruding from Wilbur’s hands, most in the work bench.
“Where’s my wand, Wilbur.” It wasn’t a question.

In a corrupted world where magic's price is too high but it has to be paid to survive, Techno is beside his brother until the very end.
Until Wilbur screws up and Techno makes a foolish promise. From that foolish promise to a dying man comes an obligation to fulfill that promise.
Wilbur didn't say Techno had to be happy and alive. Just alive.

It wasn’t a coin, he discovered, but a carrot. A glimmering, Golden Carrot.
“Oh,” he murmured softly, placing his basket on the ground and gently pulling it up.
He thumbed over it, the dirt falling like snow to the ground.
Real.
He turned it over in his hands.
This was a real Golden Carrot.

Techno's eyes widened. Alien ships weren't equipped with the same communication system as human ships. His comm system was built to translate Common and other human languages. Alien languages were stored in a separate comm system.
The pieces clicked together within moments.
Another human ship was trying to communicate with him.
He slammed his hand down on the 'accept' button.
Request for communication with spacecraft accepted.

Techno slammed his fists against the transparent wall of his prison, trying his best to break it down. His captors backed up, whistling anxiously to each other.
He gave the barrier another loud crack, delightedly watching as they scrambled away in abject terror.
Nodding in satisfaction, he turned around to meet the eyes of two other prisoners that had been thrown into his cell.
He froze.
Right.
There were now aliens in his cell.
And he probably just scared the hell out of them.
Or: Humans are a dangerous race feared by all on an intergalactic scale. Techno, a human ex-soldier that was abducted by aliens 18 months ago, is biding his time in captivity.
This changes when two young aliens are sent into his cell to die.

Summary
Phil has to move to a new town because of his job. Kristin has to stay behind to finish things up with her job. They decide to send the kids with Phil so that they can start the new semester at their new school.
Wilbur is 16 and in high school and is thriving in this new town. There’s a ton of history about the town, he joins a band, he’s popular and has a crush on this girl who thinks he’s funny and happier than he’s ever been in his life.
Tommy is 10 and in elementary school. He makes two best friends instantaneously and is a little menace with them. His teachers love him and he goes exploring all the time.
Techno is 13 and in middle school and is struggling. He’s picked on a lot and his best friend from back home, Skeppy, rarely talks to him and his teachers are really strict and accuse him of cheating because he struggles to complete his homework but aces the tests. He doesn't want to bring this up though, because everyone else in his family is doing great and he doesn't want to ruin it with his problems.
With his mom across the country, his dad up to his neck in work, and his brothers distracted by their own lives, will anyone notice Techno is drowning before it’s too late?
