“I didn’t want you to take it!” You’re shouting back at him now. “The group home found this with me when I was abandoned there. It’s the only thing I’ve had my entire life! It’s the only thing I have to prove that my mother was real! I know you believe it belongs to you, I know that, and I’m sorry I hid it from you, but please, this is the only thing I have to know who I am. It’s a part of me, and you of all people should understand that.”
Mando stares at you, his breath flaring. He, of all people, does understand that this item is a part of you, but it’s just as much a part of him.
“Din,” he says abruptly.
“Di- Kriff. Din. What does that mean?!”
He presses a button on his cuff bracer and the lights go out. It’s pitch black in the Crest. You hear the quiet thuds of his boots nearing you and you stand perfectly still, the sound of your breath drowned out by a mechanical hiss.
“My name is Din Djarin.”

But hope is a funny thing, hard for even a trained Mandalorian warrior to kill completely if you know where to look. In your case you may have found a glimpse in the flash of sunlight on beskar and the kindness of a lonely wanderer also in search of something he once believed to be gone forever.
