As title suggets, I don't know if this was done before, but it was runing through my head as I rewatched D2 and having seen in the second prequel that Gru hadn't left his home town, he merely moved away from where he lived with his mom when he was a kid. I'm sure some of his classmates also hadn't left, so it would stand to reason that they would eventually run into each other at some point.
