The judge is a woman in her mid-forties, who is staring Max down with the intensity of an eagle eying its prey, brown eyes pierce into dark blue ones. “Huh?” Max angled his head so he could whisper back to Daniel. “We’re not allowed to drink on race weekends.”
“I know that. But drivers break those rules all the time, especially in Monaco. And it’s not like we’re doing it before the actual race. It’s just qualifying.”
“Qualifying is still important,” Max mumbled. He sounded like his father.
“I know, we won’t get completely trolleyed. Just a few drinks. I’ll even pay for yours.”
Daniel didn’t need to say any more. Max would do almost anything for him. A lifetime of training and discipline, years of behaving on race weekends while his peers let loose, all gone in an instant because he could feel Daniel Ricciardo’s breath tickling his neck.---
