In this AU, Arthur found out Merlin was immortal two years before his death. He spoke to the Fates, and they revealed certain truths to him. So now, in the time he has left, Arthur spends his days writing—1,500 letters to be exact. One letter for each year of Merlin’s life, asking him to do one thing that year until Arthur returns in the future.

Everyone insisted that Arthur needed time to process, to accept that Merlin was gone. The only problem was that Merlin wasn’t.
Arthur didn’t know how to explain it without sounding like Uther when he’d seen Ygraine in the well, like he was losing his mind and looking for ghosts. He didn’t know how to look at his court and make them understand that Merlin had once told him about nature, about the sacred connectedness of the earth, and asked Arthur if he felt it. He didn’t know how to say that he hadn’t felt it back then, but that he did now. He felt it all. He felt Merlin in it.

Set one year after series 5 in an alternate timeline where Arthur survives Camlaan.
For one year, Camelot has had time to adjust to a new age where the magic ban has been lifted and sorcerers can practice magic freely without the fear of being hunted and killed. However, the lift on the ban hasn't come without a price - riots plague the streets of Camelot and with the people fighting amongst each other, King Alined of Deorham seizes opportunity to invade.
However, to invade successfully, Alined needs to remove the one person at Arthur's side that would sure be a problem if he gets in the way - Emrys.

Basically this is just a crossover between frasier and merlin, so if it's just the merlin charachters shoved into frasier. This fic can be read without watching frasier but for those few people who have watched it I'll put in some inside jokes lol.
Morgana moves to seatle from Boston to start her new life after her divorce. She begins her new job where she meets gwen and they quickly become freinds (or will they become more....hehe) Arthur is a psychologist stuck in a loveless marriage (I just kept Maris bc idk who else..)
There may be some slight mischaracterisation but I'll try to stay true to the origional charachters.
