Even Mama had tears shining in her pretty green eyes, and Mama rarely ever cried, ‘cause she said some very mean people trained her not to when she was little, telling her that crying and being sad was weakness.
Tony once asked Mama if they were right, but Mama shook her head with that kinda sad smile she sometimes wore and told him that they were wrong, that sometimes crying was the bravest thing you could do even if there were a lotta people who’ll tell you it’s not.
(Tony thinks his mama is the strongest person in the whole wide world.)
