Odysseus considered himself a good man. Not a bleeding heart, of course. He was a warrior of the mind, he wouldn't fall to pity so easily! He'd follow logic and his skilled stratagem. Yet he found himself so weak when face to face with a child. With a child who'd end up dooming him. Looking into the eyes of the mother he found himself weak. Such a slave to emotion that he couldn't follow orders given to him to save himself. His men.
Mercy done when knowing it would doom oneself is no less idiotic.———
Okay so: Astyanax lives, Andromache lives (happily), Phyyrus lives, Cassandra lives, a lot of the crew lives. I just really like the Trojan war and I love Troy.-

Polites, Odysseus noted, had regained some of the weight he had lost in the past ten years. He wore a simple chiton and the ever-present bandana in his hair.
The years had damaged it but he still refused to cut his hair, as Eurylochus had done at one point, or replace the headband. "My mom made it," he said. "She'll make me another when we get home."***
The Trojans have won the war. For some, it means the time to return home has come.
Odysseus, however, is not among them.
O: the story where Polites tries to return home, Odysseus loses his mentor and Eurylochus learns to listen.

Summary
Odysseus remembered. He watched himself run, Polites with a spear in one hand hardly keeping up, after a boar he was intent on killing. He didn’t know what had compelled him to attempt to kill it – he didn’t have the proper gear for a boar hunt. Perhaps it was just boredom and the thrill of a challenge that had lured him in. When the boar appeared to be too fast and threatened to outrun him, Odysseus sped up, which was when the boar suddenly turned around to face him, brandishing his gleaming tusks. The way the tusks shone was what should have made Odysseus realise this was no ordinary boar.
After winning the war against Troy, all Odysseus wants is to go home. But he won't get there without making choices that may continue to haunt him for the rest of the journey - or his life.
(Or, a literary adaptation of EPIC: The Musical!)
