You turned in a circle, looking around the entire coffee shop for any sign of Scott, completely confused on where he had gone. Had he gone to the bathroom while you were up? Or had he… just up and left? Surely he hadn't done that.
You let out a sigh. Okay. Whatever. So it was a busted date, then. You glanced back at the table again to make sure you weren't forgetting anything, and paused when you noticed a note scrawled on a napkin.
He was a bad date. Try again.
Better luck next time.
You stared at the note blankly. The first part of the message was in a spiky handwriting, while the second part was in an elegant cursive. Two different people had written this note. But why? Why did they care about your failed attempt at dating?
"Whatever. Fuck this," you muttered to yourself. You'd just have to learn to deal with your unrequited crush and permanent singleness. Fine.

"Hey! Let go of me, you asshole--" It took a moment for you to actually register who was in front of you, standing in the small amount of shade provided by the building and the corner of the fencing next to it. "Jay? What are you doing here?"

It wasn't exactly comfortable for either of them, because her knees were still pulled up to her chest, and Jason decided that wasn't good enough.
He lightly wrapped his hand around her ankle, then tugged gently. She raised her head a little, looking completely confused, as he kept pulling until she had fully extended her legs to his other side. It was only when he started to pull her into his lap, intending to give her the proper hug that she deserved, that she seemed to realize what he was doing. She dropped her head and wrapped her arms around him as well, almost immediately leaning into him again, letting him take her weight.
Jason didn't like it. He didn't like the way she buried her face in his neck - well, he did, but not right now - and cried for what seemed like the first time in a long time. He was used to seeing her be snarky, always quick with a comeback, not afraid to speak her mind. But right now, all he could feel was the way her body shook with near-silent tears, like even while she was having a completely understandable and valid breakdown, she didn't want to make herself seem like more of a burden than she had to.

I created this cause sometimes, a girl just wants a quickie (a simple, quick, fun read, of course:) I'm not too well-versed in the DC Universe; I just think Batman is a cool character. I do try looking things up, though, to make it somewhat comic-adjacent in terms of Gotham City and stuff. Reader insert with limited use of (Y/N) and each one-shot will have somewhat of a plot, but not really.
