Anhora breathed out, his gaze resting on the son who was fading away. Another of his pure-hearted creatures disappearing because of glory and hatred, because of ignorance and deceit.
His eyes then shifted to the boy who had held, cradled, the head of Anhora’s son, Estel, in his hands.
“I’m so sorry,” he was whispering, “I’m so very sorry.”
Anhora allowed a faint smile to disturb his solemn expression, a glimmer of light in the grim darkness.
At least, he thought, someone who still cared did exist.
“Arthur Pendragon,” Anhora spoke to the soul of the hunter who had just arrived, a look of pride of the kill he had just made, killing an innocent with his actions, “the judgment of your heart has only just begun.”
We’ll see what kind of friend you are, he thought, vanishing as the boy’s blue gaze found him.

Arthur had gone mad. Merlin had always suspected it would happen someday, and that day was today. They had survived dozens if not hundreds of attacks, magical and mundane alike, they had lost Camelot and won it again, and secured it for good, and now, at the height of their victory, Arthur had gone mad.
Really, it was unfair. If anyone had a right to be mad in this situation, it was Merlin. He’d been doing all the work, and now he was going to have to put up not only with a mad king, but with a mad lover too. It was like something out of a bad ballad.

Summary
Despite what some people (Arthur) think, Merlin was actually a great planner. Unfortunately, there's just not much evidence of that due to his true downfall: once Merlin gets involved, his carefully laid plans somehow always go wrong.
Merlin and Arthur knew slowly reintroducing magic into Camelot would be hard, so they made a plan. They thought about where to start, who would be sympathetic, who wouldn't, how fast was too fast, how slow was too slow, and thousands of other issues. For months they strategized and thought of every eventuality.
So when their plans are completely thrown out the window as a Druid boy is thrown into their lives Merlin knew he shouldn't have been surprised.
Hopefully being a good father doesn't require any more planning.

Summary
Fit Bloke yanks the books from his hands harshly, unbalancing Merlin, making him have to stop himself from face planting by bracing a hand on the floor. Giving him a disgusted look, Fit Bloke sneers, “Get up, you look ridiculous,” before briskly walking away in the opposite direction, his leg connecting with Merlin’s shoulder and knocking him over again.
“Prat,” Merlin says, collecting himself and getting up. Fit Bloke may be a prat, and an arse, but the view of his bum when he strutted away wasn’t bad at all. In fact, it was a very peachy bum, probably from footie....

Merlin froze. The ceiling was unfamiliar. He sat up quickly and stared in horror as the room he was in wasn’t anywhere he recognised. Where was he? What had happened last night?
He moved quietly around the room, trying to look for clues. For some strange reason, his body refused to cooperate. Muscles he never acknowledged in his legs complained of strains and his wrist was particularly sore. Everything felt off.
All the more reason for Merlin to figure things out. He pushed past the pain, certain his magic would deal with the aches before breakfast. He looked under the bed and in the wardrobe but they were both dead ends.
Finally, he turned to the small looking-glass that stood by the fireplace. The presence of it was odd enough and Merlin wasn’t expecting any break-through as his eyes flicked past but the image made him still.
That wasn’t his face staring back at him.
Or Merlin awakes but he's not in his body? And what has happened to Mordred? How will they fix this before Arthur finds out?

The next time Arthur doesn’t say thank you, Gwaine puts his hand on Merlin’s back, stroking down the long length of it, from the short curls of hair at the nape of his neck to the neat cinch of his waist.

He’d come to this realisation fairly quickly, given how she was acting towards his manservant. Laughing at all his terrible jokes, but with a giggle that just had to be fake. I mean, come on, no one actually laughs at Merlin’s jokes like that. You either don’t laugh at all because he has the worst sense of humour known to man, or you double over wheezing from his offhanded comments. Arthur was starting to wonder if he was in any position to sack her, but he knew logically it wouldn’t be fair. That hadn’t at all stopped him from wishing she was far, far away, however.
A serving girl has got the hots for Merlin, making Arthur only ever so slightly (but also extremely) jealous and moody. To make matters worse, Merlin’s been nothing but kind towards the girl. Fortunately, he seems unaware of her advances. Unfortunately, for Arthur anyway, that means the girl hasn’t at all stopped with her fluttering eyelashes and touches that last way too long. Arthur was only so many steps away from pulling out his own hair. But, after a talk with Gwen and Morgana (AKA calling him a complete & utter dumbass), maybe Arthur can finally tell Merlin everything he wants to.
