“Baby?” Debbie whispered, cogs turning in her head.
“Already?” Lou groaned, reading the expression on Debbie’s face quickly after many practiced years as her partner and everything in between.
“Lou,” Debbie spoke seriously. “What if we didn’t have to choose?”
“Choose what?” Lou asked, eyebrow raised. She placed the magazine on her lap, a finger still between the pages allowing her the smallest of escapes just in case.
“Between retiring and running jobs,” Debbie smirked. “Ever thought about running the long con?” Debbie asked with a knowing smile.
