It was stupid to think Petunia would care for little Harry Potter, that she would embrace him in her arms when she found him that night. Choices are made, and a life is lost, but Harry Potter does not stay dead. How shall the world face the result of their actions? how will Harry face his?
Alternatively:
An alternate universe where everyone's a little different, and consequences are far reaching. Harry does not grow up normal, nor is he human. Harry Potter, doomed to live forever, again and again, has begun an interdimensional exploration across the omniverse. He arrives, after a long soujourn, on an Earth that is both familiar and different. In a world that seemingly never developed magic of any kind and which developed radically different from the tenth century on, Harry decides to dig a little bit deeper and stay a while.
But what he finds is evidence of a dead universe - and communication with an alien race who all died off just a scant few months after contact was made with humanity across long-distance information sharing. Their last message was a warning - for humanity to prepare.
Humanity had understood the lesson yet only few know why all of humanity's focus lies on creating massive Ark-vessels on the planetary dock-yards of Luna and Mars. And Harry is one of those few, albeit illegally so.
Fast forward several years and he lives on Luna's dockyard-city, overseeing the final work on humanity's seventh Ark-vessel bound for the Andromeda Galaxy once it launches.
But whatever it was that killed off humanity's alien first-contact is still out there - and it will come. The only question is when and from where? Harry doesn't know...

It's just hard to hide when other people stumble upon him and Hermione having a date on the astronomy tower. Fights happen, but luckily they can also make up.

Magic just by itself is powerful, so powerful in fact that depending on the structure of its use can reshape how the universe is governed. However, that's not all there is to it. With 'Dark' magic not being very dark at all and 'Light' magic not being light either. Magic as a whole is, in all intent and purposes, magic. Or so one Harry Potter will come to believe.
