The King and Queen disappear seemingly overnight.
Despite the councils efforts, the two heirs attempts, and the long wasted work-nights of Governor Holiday, the Underground's struggles increase in severity until drastic measures are needed. After the ruling council's flimsy excuse for their royals' absence, trust in their organization drastically decreases. The Underground grows suspicious, divided, and restless. The Council's hand is all but forced to into a rushed coronation of the two heirs, asking all to leave the era of mourning behind.
Asriel and Chara step up to rule, but on the day of their coronation, a wounded creature of unparalleled power steps through the barrier. Widespread panic, the uncovering of a secret plot, and a growing feud between the two heirs split the Underground apart. Chara's tirade for justice leads them down a darker, darker path, leading a grieving Asriel to pick up the pieces.
When a new human enters the equation, Asriel promises to end this madness for good. Even if that means opposing his best friend, the royal guard, and the entire Underground in the process.

“G-good point. I’m lucky that I can hide my mistakes.” She peered up at him “You’re a lot braver than me, for sure!” She could only imagine how disheartening it could be to receive more backlash than positivity, it was amazing that he still kept at it despite that.
Clearly, Papyrus didn’t feel the same way if his slumped posture was anything to go by. He avoided her attempt at a cheery smile, looking terribly closed off with his arms tight by his sides and sockets peering down at a rather large crack in the lab tile.
“YES, BRAVE. I’VE HEARD THAT ONE A LOT” He sounded bitter, which was such a foreign note to hear from him that it took Alphys off guard.

After an accident, papyrus is on the verge of falling down, sans carries him to alphys. Unfortunately, he already starts to dust mostly hims arms and bit of his body, Alphs then resorts to containing the remaining part of his body and trying to find a way to save him, she tries to use processed determination, it only works for a while before she has to put him back into the container as he starts to melt, she tries many different experiments while trying to keep them a secret from sans, before papyrus’ body is completely eroded. She they builds a robot body for him, replacing most of his body parts, however, he is at this point, rather dead, so she tries to use some of his leftover dust to create a fake soul, a soul that is rather weak and easily breakable but can still act as normal soul.

“Nah,” Sans sighed. “You might be onto something. But I let go a long time ago, y’know? So however I feel now is probably my comeuppance for giving up.” He smiled, but for the first time in knowing him, Alphys registered the emotion on his face as sadness. “I’m sure I could get better under the right circumstances. It’s just…so much work.”
Alphys, while on an excursion to see if Mettaton could set some time out of his busy schedule for her, runs into an old friend from university.

helplessness was what could describe everything going on in dr. alphys’ mind. she was confused, to say the least, the moment this human came down it’s like they just.. knew what to do, the flower they talked to talked about some kind of.. reset. she didn’t know what that could mean, so she studied it, and studied it, over and over.. yet it felt like she was right back at the start every time.
