In some ways, she didn’t want to be ‘White.’ She didn’t want to be the person she had been as Commander, who had given so many horrible orders.
Yet, at the same time, she felt she had no right to run from it. The androids under her command had lived and died by the commands she had given, and those who were able to survive still felt the effects of them. She wouldn’t try to pretend it had never happened or escape her role in that.
