Summary
After Matthew's death, and still finding it hard to cope with Sybil's loss, Tom is struggling more than ever trying to find a place for himself with the Crawleys in a world in which he doesn't belong. Thomas is floundering in loneliness and his own spite, failing to make any real connection with anyone and only succeeding in pushing people further away. When Tom decides to move into the agent's cottage in a bid for independence, Thomas helps him to fix it up, and the two men begin to spend time together and find some common ground. As time goes on, that common ground turns into an unlikely friendship, then something deeper, and soon they find a connection in one another that they could never have expected.

Summary
Mrs Hughes’ office was dark and dreary but it was the only place of safety her frazzled mind could think of and she desperately needed help though now she was doubting whether or not she should have just gone to her room. She was cold, so very cold but that wasn’t the only reason for her trembling. The darkness around her was oppressive. His face seemed to dance in the shadows threatening to jump out and attack her once again the bleeding and bruising painful reminders of what happened just a few moments ago.
The quiet that had surrounded her was now interrupted by the sound of the other staff returning downstairs which could only mean that the concert must have finished, she prayed that Mrs Hughes would find her and not Mr Carson she couldn’t bear it if he found her. Though her prayer would partially come true when she heard the door open, two pairs of heels clattered against the stone floors abruptly stopping once the light had been flipped on followed by two gasps but one snapped out of the shock quicker than the other.

Summary
After Thomas' suicide attempt, we didn't get to see much of what he did, or what happened, that helped him to eventually feel better. It's unlikely he got any professional therapy, but it seems to me that something had to happen that helped him to change. This is my take on what happened--the work he did with himself, and the interactions he had with the people who care about him--that helped him to eventually decide to go on living, and in particular in this story, how he got back to work.

Thomas Barrow fell in love with Lieutenant Edward Courtenay during World War I at the workhouse where Thomas worked. They fell in love, married illegally, and Edward took his own life when he learned he was about to be transferred. That was four and five years ago. Today is 1921, and by majority vote, the law making homosexuality illegal throughout the Commonwealth was repealed, and a law recognizing illegal marriages was also created.

Downton Abbey is in utter chaos when the film crew arrives. The whole thing threatens to go wrong when the actor playing the antagonist breaks his leg. That is, until the two starring actors notice a certain black-haired butler...
OR in which the Abbey is overrun by showbizz people, all the servants are in love with Guy Dexter, the entire film crew is obsessed with Thomas Barrow, and in which Thomas doesn't care about any of them and reluctantly agrees to play a gangster, if only because Richard has promised to come to York to see the film with him.
