“My name is Link,” Link said guardedly. “Link Alphonson.”
“I’m Ellanharai,” his pack said, just as guardedly.
The two men before him exchanged knowing glances before looking back at him.
“Well, see, here’s the thing,” the tall, snarky blond said slowly. “My name is also Link. Captain Link Taylor of the Royal Hylian Army. And this-” He gestured at the fox daemon at his heels. “-is Ellanharai.”
“Link of Skyloft,” the shorter brunette said, placing a hand over his heart and inclining his head like a noble. Was… was that the Master Sword on his back?
“Ellanharai of Link,” the crane added, sweeping a wing out and also gracefully inclining her head.
“Well met,” they chorused in perfect harmony.
“…Oh, shit,” Link breathed, his sword arm dropping limply to his side as a headache bloomed behind his forehead. “I time traveled, didn’t I?”

Evan’s soul hasn’t spoken at all. Not even to the other daemons. Evan is quiet but no daemon is this quiet naturally. A soul speaks even when the human doesn’t.
If that crow were hissing and spitting, cawing and screaming, then the lack of talking would feel less…like this. What kind of a daemon is silent? What kind of a soul is this empty?
It’s fine, Jammer thinks, deciding that it will be true. He lets Witty inch closer to Evan than he normally would and when he guides Evan around by the shoulder there isn’t a single flinch to be found. Just a wild animal stillness.
That’s okay, too. Sometimes a good guy happens to be creepy as shit. Happens to the best.

But Lucky burst into tears.
It drew everyone up short. Raph looked like someone punched him in the stomach. Leo didn’t look at anyone at all. At least his mean little smile was gone.

After learning that his castle was nothing but empty ruins, and that François is not actually his palisman, but just a stuffed rabbit he found, King struggles to figure out where he's supposed to go next. How is any of this supposed to matter, if he has nothing at all connecting him to the world? Sure, his life was a lie before, but it was an uncomplicated lie. Isn't that better than his new messy present?
He's not sure he'll ever really find those answers. But...maybe he can help Luz and Mari build something else.
