“If I was a girl, you could be dancing inside, in the ballroom with everyone else,” Jeremy said miserably, hiding his face in Jean's neck like the coward that he was.
"Jeremy." Jean's hand left his waist, and then he felt a finger tuck under his chin, tilting his face back up until their eyes were level.
"If not with you, I would not be dancing in the first place," Jean told him sternly, "I am exactly where I want to be.”
Jean is an amazing dancer, and Jeremy just wishes he could dance with him.

It takes Jean perhaps a little too long to start understanding Kevin. He thought he had, once upon a time, when they were the closest thing to friends either of them had. And then he was convinced he didn’t, that he never had, when Kevin left and Jean stayed in his place.
But the thumbnail—which never loads this fast, honestly, what kind of universal bullshit is this—is a picture of what is unmistakably a young Kevin, no more than seven or eight, grinning brightly at the camera.

Having Jean fall asleep in their company couldn’t be anything but a good sign, even if it was simply because he was so tired he couldn’t think straight. He gave her an enthusiastic thumbs up and nearly jumped when a weight pressed against his side.
Jean must have slipped against the couch in his sleep, leaning so close to Jeremy that he ended up on his shoulder. Jeremy sucked in a deep breath, internally panicking, then panicking that Jean might wake up from his panicking. He looked back at Laila, who smirked.
