The laughter died out and someone said, “No, no, Hunter-” and put a careful hand on his knee.
“The day of unity-” he gasped, “-it’s gonna- we’re all gonna die-”
“Hunter, deep breaths,” Gus urged, displaying the breathing technique he’d used in the past. “We can’t solve anything if you’re panicking.”
“I’m sorry,” Hunter choked.
“You’ve nothing to be sorry for,” Skara said. “Just focus on breathing.”
Hunter sucked in a breath, too deep, and coughed. He tried again, and again, his teammates surrounding him in a circle of support. Eventually, after several minutes of following Gus’s directions, his breathing slowed down to a regular level. “Sorry.”
“Nothing to be sorry for, Hunter,” Willow said. “We’ve all been there before.” -

Trapped and alone, Hunter desperately searches for a way to stop the Day of Unity and save his friends. It's up to him, and he knows that there is nothing that he wouldn't do to save the ones he loves. He would endure unbearable pain for them. He would sacrifice anything and everything for them.

“Remember what I told you?” Gus said, his frustration escalating. “You’re sick and I’m going to help you-”
“Don’t worry about it, it’s not your problem-”
“Hunter,” Gus cut him off frustratedly. “Sit down.”
“Sorry,” Hunter whispered, immediately collapsing to the floor and shaking his hands. "Sorry, sorry-" He noticed his unconscious movements, clasping his hands together to stop them from moving. "I'm sorry-"
“Nonono, that was my bad,” Gus said quietly, sitting down with him. “Breathe, Hunter. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.”

He does that, but he also learns a lot about Hunter and his relationship with the other coven members. And he learns that the Emperor's Coven wasn't as awful a place as he thought... and yet, at the same time, it was just as awful as he imagined.
Aka, Hunter talks about his time in the Emperor's Coven and why he can't bring himself to hate the coven members who hurt him.
