-- The brief respite period after Valentine’s defeat was short-lived, much to his disdain, meaning that the celebrations he’d had with his family and friends had ceased. It was a pity, particularly after all of the heart-wrenching fear that he would lose Jace, Izzy, or Max – he wasn’t even a hundred percent sure that he hadn’t lost Jace at some point. He hadn’t felt like he’d had the time to relish the fact that his family was safe; that Magnus was safe. --
Or, Alec comes home to find Magnus is hurting; the weight of memories resurfacing due to recent events causing him anguish. Alec does his best to comfort the warlock, even if it means having to face some uncomfortable stories of the past, and helping Magnus deal with emotions and truths that he had not properly confronted.
