Summary
Zane had felt trapped between worlds after returning to Ninjago. Lloyd felt stuck between wanting to stick it out with Zane and wanting to talk some sense into his thick skull. In the end, an imperfect solution was better than nothing.
Takes place post-season eleven-ish in an AU where Zane isn't fully human or Nindroid, but also something else entirely. Part of a trilogy where I give Zane different Transformers fanon sex attributes and let him loose.
Now no longer a trilogy!

Even after returning home from the Never Realm, things never quite felt the same among the ninja team.
After yet another sleepless night, of feeling like he was dying, Lloyd trudges to somewhere that wasn't his bedroom to try and clear his head.
Zane, meanwhile, was still grasping with the nightmares and broken code from the incident, terrified of returning to his former identity... An identity that tore everyone apart in its wake, one he knew he wasn't in control of yet still felt like it was his fault.
So after yet another failed reprogramming session, he finds Lloyd alone and tries to make peace with what happened back in the Never Realm.

Zane turned, giving his bed a glance, but instead he bit back a shriek, jolting when he saw two electric blue eyes narrowed at him through the darkness.
His own electric blue eyes.
Well, electric was a stretch. They flickered, and the lights within them were surely dim and dying. But he wasn’t exactly focused on the details, and instead he was staring, shocked, at a terrible, horrible, awful reflection of himself. Though the figure wasn’t wearing his signature heavy armor, his long hair and sharp antlers gave Zane all the information he needed.
The Ice Emperor.
The Ice Emperor was here, in Zane’s room, standing just where he had been sitting in front of his door. Blocking his only exit. Not making a sound, not moving.

Summary
P.I.X.A.L.'s not sure when she fell back into that comforting desire. It was a part of her. Like Zane's purpose to protect, she was made to be useful, to assist. It was in her name, sandwiched between 'external' and 'lifeform'.
It drove her, made her aim for higher and greater. For years, she felt she had made it. She was in the perfect place, giving all that she needed and stealing moments for herself. But now the mould cut for her was too big and she was desperately trying to fill the gaps.
If she wasn't useful, then she was useless. Useless robots didn't survive.
