The thing about all this is that even with so much going on it feels like something’s missing.
It’s not like Bucky is the only one to feel that way. Everyone, in some way or another – even Magneto – feels adrift. Multiversal clashes, according to Strange, tend to somehow feel as if they’re a vast void. You’re pulled out of your world. You’re put into another. Your body reacts, apparently. Your mind, too.
So fresh out of mind control, Bucky can’t figure out how to get a grip.
Asking Steve for help is complicated. This is his Steve, the one that he actually grew up with, the one who moved with him from Manhattan to Brooklyn after his mother died and he lost 569 Leaman Place to unpaid rent. Steve says they’ll always have a little bit of Brooklyn in them. Bucky believes that somewhere deep down. But it’s deep, and Steve is preoccupied with this thing he’s started with Tony.
Sometimes he watches them. They’re good together. So good. They’re missing puzzle pieces fitting together easily.
Something missing, found. Completed.

ThIs is a crossover I toyed with a few years ago. It's set in between the SIEGE and FEAR ITSELF events in Marvel 616; Steve Rogers is Commander of SHIELD and the Avengers, Luke is on the New Avengers and running the Thunderbolts etc. I love the Locust horde from Gears of War as an antagonistic force. Can't wait for you guys to see the next chapters!
