So he decided to stop trying, he had nothing left for him in that fabricated paradise. And no child would change his mind.
(Deep inside, there was a dying light of hope left in him.
And no matter how hard he tried, he never seemed to get rid of it.)
Or; maybe leaving a toddler into the care of the traumatized survivor who just lost his entire family to a nuclear bomb isn't the best idea.

Summary
"Sitting on the Federation’s boat as they returned to Quesadilla Island, Tubbo looked around at his friends. Some were inside having their wounds tended to, others were catching up on sleep as proper rest was a rarity, and the rest were scattered about alone or talking in small groups. Seeing so many of his friends alive and reunited as one should have made him happy, yet looking at them and the slowly fading Egg Island, all he felt was guilt."
Tubbo and his fellow islanders have escaped Purgatory, but he's still being haunted by the guilt he carries for being the reason none of the eggs are back of Quesadilla Island. So he decides to set out on his own and try to rescue them.

He lost his fiancé once when his abuelo tried to come between them, and then again when Cellbit abandoned him to stay in Purgatory. He lost Richarlyson and Leo for several months, unknowing if he would ever see his young family members again.
And now, Jaiden. His first family on the island. His best friend, his partner in crime, his family. The only person who truly understood his grief when Bobby died. The only person he wanted to go to sometimes when the world became too much.
Gone. Ripped from him in an instant, her existence reduced to a scrap of paper with insincere sympathy.

"No no no," Missa blurts out, closing the distance between them as he gently holds onto Phil's wrist, "You didn't scare-- Well you did but that doesn't matter right now."
Phil doesn't bother to say anything else as he slips his eyes closed. Missa only stares, watches his every move. The way his shoulders rise and fall from breathing, the way his wings flutter against the wind picking up against the rain.
He's alive, they're both alive and... Okay is not really the appropriate word to use for this situation but he can remain a little delusional right?
He would say they're both luckily alive and both on the hopeful track to being more or less okay.
Or, Philza is in desperate need of help and only Missa is the one who can try.
