This will be a slow burn, acquaintances to lovers.

or: Eddie receives an ominous invitation to Steve Harrington's Christmas party. Clearly there’s some ulterior motive, some nefarious reason why the former King would request The Freak’s presence. (Which is a completely reasonable conclusion to make, no matter what his bandmates say.) Now Eddie just has to find evidence of Harrington’s crimes and try not to die in the process.

“You could have grabbed something on the way,” Steve fixes him with a cold stare, and Eddie feels Steve rest his hand on his knee, playing with the hole of his ripped jeans.
Eddie sucks in a breath, letting it out before replying, “I could have, but I didn’t. I’m sorry.”
Eddie has no idea why he’s apologizing, but he’s glad he did when Steve’s face breaks out into a smile, “Good boy.”
Those to words send heat to Eddie’s groin, and he lets out an embarrassing whimper in the middle of a public space before slapping his hand over his mouth. He avoids Steve’s eyes as he gets himself under control.
Whatever control Eddie thinks he got back is gone when Steve leans in, whispering in Eddie’s ear, “So, that really does it for you, huh?”
