“What did you do? That’s not supposed to happen. How did you get in here?” Techno stumbled back to his feet, only to watch in horror as the boy shoved an entire arm through him.
“You’re warm! Everyone else is so cold, I’d forgotten what this feels like…wait! Please stay, don’t leave me, my name's Tom, I -” The boy, Tom, froze. “Can you actually see me? Can you hear me? But you’ve never noticed me before, are you alive?” He scrambled forward as Techno scrambled back, a ridiculous game of tag with unknown consequences. “Please stay, I’m sorry, just talk to me, please…”
And Techno had stayed, and talked, and listened to the ghost in the garden. There were days he regretted it, but never again did he want a face so seemingly young to hold a despair so old.

It was a few bad days, that's all, but now, there’s a terrible ache in his joints, and throbbing pain behind the center of his forehead, and he feels like he can’t move.
He’s so tired, tired of all of this. Of the pain and the weakness and being a burden to his best friend.
“I- I was better,” he whispers. “I didn’t- I was takin’ my meds, doin’ all the right stuff, I swear, Phil-”

Tubbo is one of many, and he knows, the first moment he enters the lecture hall, he meets the eyes of another boy, blond hair and blue eyes. And he knows. He knows deep in his bones, under his teeth, he tastes it like defeat. He isn't the only one.
There is something terrifying about meeting someone like him. Someone who mirrors his grasping for knowledge. There is something new but familiar about the look in the other boy's eyes. And there is a glint in them that tells him that the boy knows it too.
He convinces himself they're alike, they must be. Brilliance and all. Except, why did it feel like Tubbo was lying to himself? Why did it feel like they couldn't be more different? Complete opposites.

“Really?” he says, fingers flicking the pages.
“Yeah,” Tommy says, sprawled across the couch on his belly with his arms under his chin. “You know things.”
Techno considers him for a moment. “I guess so. You know things, too.”
“Maybe.” Tommy thinks of library shelves and creeping vines trailing up windows. He thinks of candles and paper and soft things. “Maybe.”~~~~~~~~~~

Philza has a pretty good life. He has a house that's just big enough, makes a killing as his job as a bounty hunter, and generally does whatever the fuck he wants. Sure, it's a little lonely now that Technoblade has retired from the bounty hunting life, but they're still neighbours and friends, and he's totally fine. He's perfectly content with his life. So why did the universe send him an eight year old with a an attitude problem and a dead mom who apparently put him on the birth certificate? And what the fuck does he do with a child?
Technoblade had to admit he might've privately (or not so privatley) laughed at the idea that Phil had to raise a kid. The Universe apparently didn't like that, because he got his own midnight call. An old army buddy, Dream, was in jail and had apparently put Technoblade's name down as an emergency caretaker for the kids in his custody. Now the universe is the one laughing.
