He'd been trying to make a fire all day, but nothing had worked thus far. Yes, he and Aang had agreed to visit the Sun Warrior temple, but what if it didn't help?
He needed to get his bending back. He needed to teach the Avatar how to bend; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to defeat the Fire Lord.
Zuko teaching Aang to firebend was the only reason the group had allowed him to join. Without his bending, he was worthless to them. They would throw him out. And Zuko had nowhere else to go.

Summary
Five years after the war, the Avatar Gaang is once again back together for the annual End of the War Celebration being held at the Earth King's Palace in the prestigious City of Ba Sing Se. Through the years much has since changed, Sokka and Suki have gotten married, as well as Zuko and Katara, Aang is almost a fully recognized Avatar, and Toph is still the world's Greatest Earth Bender. Aang and Toph have been traveling together for a few years, going on missions together, causing trouble and goofing around, and only continuing to growing closer. Things have come to an end, while the have simultaneously brought forth new beginnings. However, in the midst of the world peace and Celebration, a threat has been made against the Avatar. Not a just normal threat, something coming from the Spirit world. But what happens when Aang has to leave the End of the War Celebration early, to set off alone and travel back to the Northern Air Temple in order to confront this strange Spirit? What happens when a mistake has been made by leaving to go to the Temple, because in reality the one who is in trouble is Toph?

100 years ago, Fire Lord Sozin lead the Fire Nation into war against the other three nations, completely wiping the Air Nomads off the map and turning his sights to the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. The Avatar, the sole person responsible for the peace of the world, vanished around this time and hasn't been seen since, and many have begun to lose hope that he even still exists.
Aang was never the Avatar. His twin sister, Anya, was saved at birth because she was the Avatar's next incarnation. Now, a hundred years have passed and as the last Airbender, it's his jobs to teach the current Avatar airbending...whoever that may be.
For three years, Zuko has searched for the Avatar at the behest of his father, along with the promise to have his honor returned to him. When Zuko first joins, He wouldn't sit with them to eat. And then when he was forced, he barely ate anything. But it's okay because he has rations left over. At least that's what Zuko said, He said he had plenty but who knows how long they'll last? He gives sokka and Katara Some rations for when they eat but it's probably because he has plenty left right? wrong.
Zuko is stupid and doesn't want to say no to the Gaang so he just ends up passing out from not eating

For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Jinx’s voice broke the silence, “…What do you want?” she asked, her tone flat, devoid of any emotion beyond weariness.
Aang took a hesitant step forward, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn’t know what to say, but one thought echoed loudly in his mind:
