Summary
Ever since the trio had burst into his cabin, claiming they knew about Jasper, David has felt... uneasy, to say the least.
One week later, during a nightly stroll around, David catches the three of them attempting to row to Spooky Island. Confused, he chases after them, unknowingly reviving secrets that he thinks he'd rather not have found in the first place.(Usually I have good summaries. This time I don't. So basically, set after "Dial M for Jasper" where David catches the trio on their way to Spooky Island, ends up finding Jasper, and you already know where this is heading, don't you?)

A Dadvid fic! Thought I'd jump on the bandwagon with season 4 rolling up. These two have such an awesome dynamic, it's been so much fun writing them. I won't spoil too much, but be ready for some healing.
This will be timed after season 3, but I'll be keeping an eye on season 4 and making edits if they fit.
Rated T for mentions of mental illness and abuse and Max's filthy mouth. -

Dealing with illness is a complicated thing for David, who's still fearful of the punishments he faced as a consequence of showing signs of sickness around his parents when he was younger. When Max takes out his own stress on the counsellor who's already not feeling himself, David breaks down and asks for the one person who's always helped him feel better.

A request from my tumblr: "David gets sick and Gwen is out for the day and the kids really don‘t know what to do with David when they notice that something is off - Max eventually finds some Tylenol but David is super out of it and thinks that the kids want to poison him. It takes Gwen to come back and convince David to take the medicine and Max feels kinda bad for making David distrust him (and of course David feels bad later on for making Max upset)"

Neil had never fit in. Be it his odd colouring or his anti-social behaviour, he always felt ostracized from his pod. But at least he was safe from the dangers of the Northern Deep.
But when a wicked storm seperates him from his pod and injures him, Neil finds himself alone and afraid, until some Northerners find him, and he slowly but surely falls in love as the trio sets off in search of the King and Queen to warn them of a newly discovered threat.
