None of that makes sense to Cloud, he shoots Sephiroth a bewildered look. “You destroyed an entire planet for me? All of this—just for me?” It’s bullshit, there’s no way, Sephiroth’s just a power-hungry maniacal man. That has to be it, right?

Death was meaningless to a god, he co-opted it for his own power, and Cloud was the recipient of his blessing.Sephiroth manages to save his puppet from the Cetra's grasp and tucks him away in a place he knows she cannot reach. The dying world Cloud resides in now, as he prepares their Reunion, is a gift for his puppet. A place where he can be free from pain and struggle.
Cloud is overwhelmed at first, but he realizes he can be selfish now - can't he? If this Zack says he loves him, then Cloud will let himself enjoy it. Master gave him to Cloud, after all. Master gave him everything.
