Hands clutching the sides of the nearest sink, he dipped his head down, the ends of his bandana brushing against the corners of his mouth. The turtle strained to breathe deeply, trying his hardest to ward off the sick feeling in his gut.
Some part of him wanted—screamed—to leave. Nothing about it would be hard, either. Jump out the window, find a pothole cover, hide in the sewers, go home like nothing happened. Below the ground was cold and claustrophobic, but it was comfortable. Reliable. Familiar. It didn’t make him feel like a freak, even around his brothers.
